What does Himalaya mean?

The Himalayas which is a Sanskrit word meaning the house of snow  is the range which contains highest mountain crests all across the world including Mt. Everest. It is a place covered with snow that never melts and is a paradisiacal place for trekkers and adventure seekers. Along-with  that it is a sound  place for travelers as there are lot many fascinating unexploited places.

Where is it located?

This splendid  Mountains  located at the northern most part of  India and separates the Indian Subcontinent with Tibetan region. It’s spread across five countries:   Bhutan,  India,  Nepal, People’s Republic of China, and Pakistan. With its unadulterated  air & turbulence is an extraordinary place for a nature lover. Some of the world’s major rivers, the Indus, the Ganges, and the Tsangpo-Brahmaputra, rise in the Himalayas, and their combined drainage basin is home to some 600 million people.

Also it nestles plentiful religious and spiritual places including pilgrimage destinations such as the Amarnath, Kedarnath ,Badrinath and beautiful Buddhist Monasteries  that really magnetize the visitors.Mount Kailash is also located in Himalayas and  is considered as sacred in Hinduism,Jainism and Buddhism According to Hindu mythology, Shiva, the god of devastation and rebirth, resides at the peak of this flamboyant mountain.

The Hindu people consider it as a angelic place and believe it to be the dwelling place of Gods. It has also been specified in the epic Ramayana, Mahabharata, Rig Veda, Skanda Purana and many other Purana’s. In Hindu religion, the Himalaya is known as the Giri-raj, which means the “King of the Mountains”.

It has equally rich wildlife including Himalayan Quail,Western Tragopan, Black-lored Tit and Cheer Pheasant.
